EVN Macedonia Built the First Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Power Plant in North Macedonia with Bifacial Modules
/15th January 2021, by EVN Macedonia/
The first photovoltaic power plant in the country that simultaneously produces electricity from the sun and the reflection of light was installed in Negotino by EVN Macedonia at the end of 2020. This power plant is part of the most modern world technologies, made by the so-called bifacial panels that accumulate direct sunlight from the upper part, while from the back part they accumulate the reflection of light from the reflecting material additionally placed under the panels. The bifacial photovoltaic power plant of EVN Macedonia in Negotino is composed of 4416 panels with a power of 335 W, respectively installed power of 1479 kW (1.48 MW) and has a capacity of 2.1 GWh for annual production of electricity from renewable electricity sources.
On the occasion of the official opening of the power plant, present were the Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia - Mr. Zoran Zaev, the Minister of Economy - Mr. Kreshnik Bekteshi and the Chairman of the Management Board of EVN Macedonia - Mr. Stefan Peter. „This photovoltaic power plant is a result of the successful collaboration between the public and the private sector. We are proud that our company invests in projects that are designed to protect the environment and especially for pollution reduction. In a record-breaking period of less than 4 months, we managed to make a positive change towards a better energy future for the country and for the health of our citizens.“ stated Mr. Peter.
This project was implemented within the strategy for production of "Green Energy" by the Government. Mr. Zoran Zaev, Prime Minister of RNM, highlighted the Government's strategies for continuous development of the energy sector, and especially the part for renewable electricity sources. „It is my honor and pleasure to be here today at the promotion of the first photovoltaic power plant of EVN Macedonia. Congratulations for this investment, for this successfully realized project within the public call of the Ministry of Economy. We have plenty of solar energy, we are a country with 280 sunny days a year and the highest quality peak of solar energy “ said Mr. Zaev.
