New Report Published about the Central East Europe (CEE) and South East Europe (SEE) Wind Power Market

/4th December 2016, by Renewable Market Watch™/

Geographically, Central East Europe (CEE) and South East Europe (SEE) countries have abundant wind resource potential and are suitable for the production of wind energy throughout the whole year. The wind resource potential on the CEE & SEE countries territory is considerable in Croatia, Greece, Ukraine and Kosovo. There are a lot of sites in CEE & SEE countries where mean annual wind speed at 80 m. is exceeding 7 m/s, whilst at some places reaches 8 – 10 m/s.

Most of the CEE & SEE countries have renewable energy capacity targets, assisting their aims to obtain share of its power generation from renewable energy sources. In order to achieve these goals, the transmission infrastructure of the countries might require considerable improvements to allocate additional capacity increments. However, to reach the committed targets and significantly increase renewable energy power plants, CEE & SEE countries will need to revise continuously the effectiveness of the energy policy mix.

Probably will be be necessary in the near future to create or adjust the current feed-in tariff (FIT) levels, which in some of the countries are too low compared to other European countries to attract large amount of private sector investments. It will be necessary to secure that the utilities or retail companies subject to the purchase obligation are able to guarantee the purchases.

Renewable Market Watch™ published the new report Central East and South East Europe Wind Power Market Outlook 2016÷2025. The purpose of this report is to present the results of our wind power sector analysis in all the 17 countries in this area.
