RP Global Projekti Plans to Build an 18 MW Novalja Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant Project in Croatia in 2020

The solar power plant in Novalja is only a part of the very ambitious plans of RP Global in Lika-Senj County. In  Lika-Senj County, more precisely the City of Novalja, the construction of a stand-alone photovoltaic power plant worth 10 million euros will start soon, which will produce 25GWh of electricity per year. This is a project of the company RP Global, which in Croatia has already made investments in wind farms Danilo in the hinterland of Šibenik and Rudine in the Dubrovnik littoral, and this is their first project of this type in our country.

The investment should bring about 250,000 kuna a year  (€32,973) to the local self-government, so it is not surprising that the local authorities very quickly met the investor by signing the Financing Agreement for Amendments to the Spatial Plan of Lika-Senj County. It improves the conditions for the construction of solar parks, ie increases the percentage of maximum terrain coverage with solar panels from 25 to 50 percent of the building plot area.

According to the report of the Croatian Energy Market Operator (HROTE), 72,016,131 kWh of electricity was produced in Croatia last year from solar photovoltaic power plants. The total production of electricity from RES increased by 16.1 percent compared to the previous year. The share of photovoltaic power plants in the total installed capacity (MW) is 6 percent.
