Inea Consulting Ltd., a leading provider of renewable energy advisory services in Europe, announced that the sale mandate had been signed between the company and the owners of Bulgaria's 100MWac/400 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) project, with a design visa and preliminary grid connection contract with the TSO

According to the terms of the agreement, Inea Consulting Ltd. has the right to present this battery energy storage system (BESS) project, which is in the mid-development stage, to qualified investors and negotiate the main parameters of further eventual transactions. The project is well-positioned to obtain a building permit by the end of Q4 2025. You may receive a detailed presentation of this 100MWac/400 MWh (BESS) project after signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and/or sending a Letter of Intent (LOI) to our contact address.

The project will be connected to the high-voltage grid with OHL to the TSO substation (20kV/33kV/110 kV) close to the terrain border (less than 100 meters) through its own substation (20kV/33kV/110 kV), which will be built on the project’s terrain. It aims to enhance grid stability, support the integration of renewable energy sources, and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. This cutting-edge initiative represents a vital step toward a sustainable energy future.

The project company owns the land for building a battery energy storage facility with all relevant permits up to the preliminary grid connection contract with the TSO and a conceptual technical layout. The current project condition allows the technical design to be implemented with the battery storage equipment of the interested investor, and the building permit to be issued with the selected equipment.

We have been present in the Bulgarian renewable energy market since 2005 and believe it will generate many opportunities for investors in solar energy projects in the coming years. Bulgaria 100 MW Solar Power Plant

Since 2021, a rapidly growing number of solar photovoltaic power plants have been connected to the electricity network in Bulgaria, and their capacity utilisation varies depending on weather conditions. The cumulative capacity of solar photovoltaic power plants in Bulgaria increased more than threefold from 1,300 MW (1.3 GW) in 2021 to over 4,500 MW (4.5 GW) at the end of Q1 2025, according to the Bulgaria Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Power Market Outlook 2025÷2034. Therefore, the need for energy storage capacity to balance the injection of the generated energy into the grid network or the TSO has become pressing. BESS projects are considered critical to the energy mix as they provide security and stability to the grid, while more renewables substitute traditional power plants.

Fast deployment of battery energy storage is a high priority for the European Union. The ReSTORE tender scheme, as a part of the Bulgarian Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), envisages almost EUR 0.614 billion (BGN 1.2 billion) for the construction of new renewable energy sources with co-located (Behind-the-Meter) and standalone (Front-of-the-Meter) energy storage systems to provide over 6000 MWh to the system. By the end of 2027, Bulgaria may install between 7 GWh and 11 GWh of new battery energy storage systems, according to the Central East and South East Europe Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Market Outlook 2025 ÷ 2034.
