Global Energy Services (GES) Started Construction of Three Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Power Plants in Spain with a Capacity of 131 MWp

/14th April 2021, by Global Energy Services (GES), Renewable Market Watch™/

Construction started in March 2021 and will last 9 months. The plants are property of Alter Enersun and will generate 243,600 MWh per year which will supply electricity to 70.000 families per year and avoid the emission of 229,675 tons of CO2. The projects have a total capacity of 131 MWp and will be operational by November 2021.

In total, the three plants (Caceres 2020, Caceres 2021 and Caceres 2023) will have 240,800 panels of 540 Wp/unit and occupy an extension of 172.88 Ha. GES will provide the full scope of services that includes the design and engineering, construction, equipment and material supplies, commissioning, the required tests for the correct operation of the photovoltaic plants and the voltage step-up substation, as well as the energization process that will be carried out one month before start-up.

The three plants are connected to a 30/220kV voltage step-up substation located at Caceres 2020 plant site, which in turn is connected by an evacuation line to the interconnection substation “SE1 Casar2”.

After stalling for a long while, there is an activity registered by Renewable Market Watch™ on the Spanish solar PV market despite the recently started COVID-19 pandemic.

The Spanish solar energy market is expected to be heading toward the expansion phase by 2030. Factors propelling the market growth include concerns regarding the environmental impacts of fossil fuels such as degradation, greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), severe climate change conditions, and others. Also, rapid urbanization and economic growth in the largest Spanish cities are significant factors driving the solar energy market. The power market (including the solar photovoltaic sector) in Spain shall be impacted by the COVID-19 post-financial crisis, but we remain optimistic about the future development of solar energy in the country by 2030.
