Kazakhstan Wind Power Market Performance in 2015
/9th September 2015, by RENEWABLE MARKET WATCHTM
Exceptionally rich in wind resources, about 50% of Kazakhstan’s territory has average wind speeds about 4-5 m/sec at 30 m.a.g.l. Wind speeds at 80 m.a.g.l. are also very promising ranging between 6.5 m/sec and 9.7 m/sec in different regions of the country. Some calculations estimate the wind potential of Kazakhstan around 1,820 billion KW/h per year spread over most of the country.
The potential of Kazakhstan for wind power plants exceeds the country’s needs at least 10-fold.
First MW size wind power plants in Kazakhstan have been launched into commercial operation, whilst pipeline of over 1,300 MW (1.3 GW) wind energy projects are progressing in different stages of permitting process. You will find out Renewable Market Watch’s latest Q3 update after in-depth analysis and careful review of Kazakhstan wind power market performance in first half of 2015.
